Bernadette Peters

 

Bernadette (nee Lazzara) Peters is an American singer and actress. Over her six-decade career, she has appeared on television, film as well as in musical theatre. She also performed on her own and recorded. She is a highly regarded Broadway performer, receiving seven nominations for Tony Awards, winning two (plus an honorary award) and nine Drama Desk Award nominations, receiving three. Grammy Awards were won for four of her Broadway roles.



 



 Many consider Peters to be the best Stephen Sondheim interpreter. She is especially well-known for her performances on Broadway, such as in Mack and Mabel (1974), Sunday in the Park with George (1884), Song and Dance (1885), Into the Woods with George (1987), The Goodbye Girl (1993), Annie Get Your Gun (1999), Gypsy (2003), A Little Night Music (2010), Follies (2009), and Hello, Dolly (2018).
